VOLUNTEER

Can you spare a few hours once a week? Or maybe once a month? Would you like to spend time with bunnies and fellow bunny lovers?

We are looking to build up our regular team of volunteers at Fat Fluffs Hq in Hampton in Arden. We have an amazing team but the increasing number of bunnies coming in with health care requirements means we are being stretched. If you would be interested in becoming a part of the team please have a look at the vacancies below and complete the relevant form and we will be in touch soon.

Bunny Barn

You will need a love of animals and not be afraid of a bit of hard work! Our rabbits need ongoing care and housekeeping but this role is not just about "poopa scooping" it is also being able to spend time with the bunnies, socialising them and getting to know them. Alongside this, every day, we weigh our bunnies so it involves helping keep accurate records to ensure all our bunnies are fit and well. Any training required will be given on site and the hours are 10:00 - 13:00 and we are looking for people able to commit to once a week.

Bunny Handler

This volunteering role is a week day role for people over the age of 18years; it will involve assisting our animal care co-ordinator in the health care of our rabbits, handling them while their health is assessed, assisting with medicines (both oral and injectable) and health checking the animals. If you are looking to further your career in animal care or simply learn more about rabbit health and welfare then this could be the position for you. You will need to be confident in handling rabbits, not squeamish and able to commit to once a week 09:30 - 11:30. Any training required will be given on site.

Bunny  Health Checker

This volunteering role is a week day role for people over the age of 18years and involves the health checking, grooming and handling of our animals. All our rabbits receive regular health checks to ensure they are fit and well during their time with us. We are looking for people who are confident in handling rabbits and looking to care for them to a high standard. All training will be given on site and we are looking for people who are able to commit to once a week 13:30 - 16:00, who enjoy caring for and enhancing the well-being of animals.

Site Maintenance

This role is open to anyone handy with tools. From a screwdriver to a SDS drill there is always something that needs fixing, building, painting or moving and our site and volunteer co-ordinators are always adding to the list. If you have a few hours, maybe once a week, & would like to get involved on a practical level then we would love to hear from you. You would be welcome to bring your own tools or we have our own here on site. Younger volunteers are welcome but you will need to be over 18 to use any power tooling on site.

Gardener

We are looking for someone with a few hours spare to come and help us keep the Fat Fluffs site foliage under control! Help is needed with all sorts and does not require a high level of fitness, strength or plant knowledge as the pesky weeds are just a challenge in themselves! We would really appreciate any help we can get so we are looking for someone who has a few hours here and there to help us out.

Weekend Teas

We are looking for people, over the age of 18years, who are able to help us out once or twice a month with weekend evening feeds (from about 16:00 season dependant). The veg and meals are prep'd in advance so we are looking for people who are responsible to come in, feed the bunnies, give them some fuss and ensure they are all safe and locked away for the night. All training will be given on site.

Foster Family

We are looking for homes who would be willing to help with our foster programme. We have so many rabbits waiting to come in and we are full to bursting so we are looking for homes who would be willing and able to offer one or two of our bunnies a loving home for the time they are in rescue. It is a very rewarding role and we have seen many rabbits really benefit from the one on one attention they receive whilst in their temporary homes. You have to be prepared to give them back though! If you think you might be interested please

Driver

This role involves driving our animals to, and, or from the local vets for their routine neutering operations. This role frees up our bunny health checker to focus on the medicinal requirements of our bunnies.  You will need your own car and we will let you know appointments in advance. We are looking for people to just be on our call up team to be available as and when with a "if I'm free I'll help if I can" mantra. Our vet runs tend to be about 09:00 - 09:30 in the morning and flexible in the afternoon from around 15:00 - 18:30.

Events

In order to fundraise and spread the Fat Fluffs name and message, we attend and run numerous events across the West Midlands throughout the year. We are always in need of extra pairs of hands to man the tombola and our fundraising games, face paint for the kids and generally get stuck in! If you are enthusiastic about bunnies and willing to work as part of a team then please do get in touch!

Home Checker

We rehome across the Midlands and are looking for people who would be happy to homecheck in their local area - usually a max of 5mile radius. It will involve visiting potential homes for the rabbits, chatting to adopters about bunnies and taking measurements and accurately recording information. You will have a confident and sensible manner, ideally with a good understanding of rabbit care and be familiar with our rehoming procedures and adoption policy. You will be responsible for reporting back to our rehome co-ordinator, but will not be responsible for making any final decisions.

All necessary training will be given with regards to our rehoming policies, requirements and safety.
