We are looking for someone to run our site. This is a hands on rescue and the work can be quite fast paced, varied, intense and unique so we are looking for people who are compassionate and caring, practical and pragmatic and willing to get stuck in. You need to be able to work in a team as well as an individual making communal, individual and sometimes difficult decisions. 

You need to have a full clean UK driving licence, be willing to train and deal with First Aid instances and any job offer will be dependent on the charity applying for, and receiving back, a clean CRB / DBS check. 

Organisational, basic computer and communication skills are a must as you will be communicating both verbally and via email with the general public, vets and volunteers and regularly keeping records. You must be punctual, have your own transport and be flexible with the hours you work as the requirements of the rescue demand. You must be able to work effectively outside in all weathers and be able to deal with the unexpected. 

Experience working with animals is a must and a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above is required, two of which should be in Maths and English; any job offer will be reliant on the receipt of two references.

 

Overall Remit of Role

 

  • To ensure the smooth and safe running of the rescue on a day to day basis.

 

Key Tasks and responsibilities / Job Description

  • Responsible for the day to day health and safety of the staff, volunteers and general public whilst on site and for the initiation of any required reports in accordance with the charity’s procedures to ensure the trustees are made aware of any issue
  • To assist with the recruitment, training and day to day management and care of our volunteers, and to maintain accurate records of attendance and update roster
  • To ensure animal welfare standards are maintained on site in accordance with the standards set by the charity and adhering to any legislation ie Animal Welfare Act
  • To help cover other roles within the rescue having been trained in the administration of oral and injectable medications and health care of our animals
  • To ensure accurate recording and securing of monies on site
  • To maintain good relationship with the trustees ensuring they are kept up to date on any issues raised on site and are informed of any concerns in accordance with the charity’s policies
  • To ensure accurate records of all incoming, sanctuary and departing animals are maintained and filed
  • To co-ordinate all HQ visitation bookings, answer the phone, respond to emails and ensure good and timely communication is maintained between HQ, staff, volunteers and the general public
  • To co-ordinate the movements of all rabbits within the rescue, surrender, bonding, boarding and rehoming
  • Responsible for the security of all buildings and content, as well as ensuring all buildings, equipment, vehicles and grounds are adequately maintained in conjunction with the accountable trustee
  • Order goods and process invoices in accordance with requirements noted during regular stock checks, as well as removal of rubbish from site
  • To co-ordinate all boarding requests, bookings, arrivals and departures as well as ensuring all relevant paperwork and proof of vaccination are in order
  • To write concise, informative and clear handovers for staff covering any absences
  • To update the charity’s website and social media pages with relevant information
  • To liaise with the fundraising & events teams to ensure availability of rabbits and any other resources required and to participate in activities and visits when required
  • To undertake any other duties as required 
  • To be current and maintain recency of a First Aid Certificate – Fat Fluffs Rabbit Rescue funded
