Shandy

Smudge came to us first she belonged to our neighbours children she was kept as a house rabbit, but rarely was got out of her cage this resulted in her becoming bored and aggressive. I am no rabbit expert by any means, as a child we kept a rabbit but that was a very long time ago. I am now approaching my 38th birthday. It was decided that Smudge would have a little holiday when the children did. We put her in our back bedroom and she used to hop in and out of her cage when she felt like it. The change in her behaviour was almost immediate, we had to be careful as we had a ginger tom cat called Jasper who has the run of the house he was very intrigued by our new house guest. I new immediately I wanted to keep Smudge as she had come on in leaps and bounds, but as my husband said, it wasn't my rabbit. On the day they came round to fetch her, Smudge was sitting beside me on the sofa watching tv, they were amazed by the change in her the children could see she was far happier. It was decided we would keep her. As I was a novice at keeping rabbits I went onto the internet for advice and came across a rabbit rehoming website. As we only have a small house we thought it best that we would make smudge a new home outside. I had gained the knowledge that rabbit's like company of there own kind and that is when I came across fat fluffs and Chloe. I saw Shandy on the website and I new straightaway he was the rabbit I would like to adopt. We live in a little village outside Shrewsbury, so when I spoke to my husband and told him I had found the perfect pal for Smudge in Birmingham I think he thought I was a little mad. I spoke with Chloe at length she advised me on the hutch to buy and we arranged to take Smudge to her house to see if the rabbit would bond. It was lovely to finally meet Chloe and her partner Andy all the Fat Fluffs.
Shandy took an instant like to Smudge. She wasn't so sure as she has had no contact with other rabbits since she was bought from the pet shop. Chloe was really happy with the meeting. I got a letter from the vets confirming I was a responsible pet owner and emailed pictures of my hutch and garden. Chloe was happy with all this and advised we could take Shandy home. It was brilliant to put them both in there brand new home. Smudge had never been outside before it was lovely to see her eat grass for the first time. As Chloe advised Shandy is a delicate Bun but with Smudges lack of experience she is perfect for him. He acts a little scared at times but when foods involved all his shyness disappears. I love to let them run around my garden it was lovely to see them both in my veg patch needless to say they ate all the cabbage and spinach. We didn't mind at all it's just lovely to see them so happy!
